Property Accessibility

  • Six (6) ADA accessible Two Queen Bed guest rooms. Four rooms (#101, #201, #316, #320) have a roll-in showers.
  • Our lobby, check-in and common areas, gift shop, continental breakfast area, dining room, and ground floor rooms are all located on the first floor and entirely wheelchair accessible
  • One elevator in the Main Inn allows full access to second floor of the Main Inn wing, as well as another elevator in the Birch Point Building that allows access to continental breakfast and the basement level where fitness center is located.
  • Seasonal Outdoor pool is accessible by ramp and has powered lift.

Parking & Transportation

  • Accessible self-parking is located outside of each building
  • Wheelchair/mobility device accessible registration desk located in the main lobby

ADA-Accessible Guest Room Features

  • Compliant guest room bathroom facilities with 35” inch wide door frame.
  • All rooms have grab bars and benches.
  • Wheelchair accessible doors, closets, and sinks
  • Compliant clear space throughout guest rooms

  • Toilet seat riser (with or without arms)
  • Wheelchair
  • Additional tub & shower grab bars

Digital Partner Commitment

Bar Harbor Inn sources TravelClick’s iHotelier booking engine for digital room reservation transactions. We are proud to partner with TravelClick as they have also committed to digital accessibility and have taken steps to be compliant with the current standards. As of November 2017, iHotelier Booking Engine 4.0 and Area Search can be accessed and used by “JAWS”, the most popular screen reader used by those who are visually impaired. TravelClick is in the process of remediating it’s iHotelier Booking Engine 4.0 and Area Search to comply with the WCAG standards. It is expected that by the end of second quarter of 2018, iHotelier Booking Engine 4.0 and Area Search will comply with WCAG level AA. 

Taking Action & Ongoing Efforts

Bar Harbor Inn is implementing the necessary changes to make our site accessible to everyone including anyone using a screen reader, magnifier, voice recognition software, captions, alternative text and other assistive devices. We are working diligently to make these updates in a timely fashion and will continuously audit and update our site.
